Psychiatric patient murders another patient with a pen Niel Terblanche The discovery of dead patient in the psychiatric ward of a Windhoek hospital on Friday morning uncovered a vicious murder perpetrated by another patient during Thursday night. According to Deputy Commissioner Hophni Hamufungu, acting commander of the Namibian Police’s Public Relations Division, a nurse in the ward discovered the body of a 30-year-old patient with a pen sticking out of his neck. Deputy Commissioner Hamufungu said a 29-year-old man, also a patient in the psychiatric ward, was quickly identified as the culprit and the suspect is currently isolated from the rest of the patients. The motive for the vicious murder is not yet clear. At least four cases of murder were registered with the Namibian Police on Christmas Day and the excessive consumption of alcohol was the root cause of the stabbings that led to death of some of the victims.
