There was a man who was called " human owl" in the 1920s. He was born in Germany, called Martin Engerling and changed his name to Martin Joe Laurello when he came to the States. It was the time of the freak shows and somehow very "special" people could earn a small fortune there by showing themselves to the public. It was enough to be very fat or very small, to be particularly hairy or to possess three legs u the audience went wild. Martin had none of that, but he wanted to make his fortune in America.
